MENTAL HEALTH MONTH – A PERSONAL REFLECTION
WEDNESDAY 28 OCTOBER 2020 – 8.00PM – 9.00PM VIA ZOOM
In celebration of mental health month, Girl Guides Queensland are delighted to welcome Shai, a lived experience presenter from Black Dog Institute to share her story and join our group for a chat.
We all know it has been a tough year… Our leaders are often so busy taking care of our girls, their families and communities, we know that self-care is often your last priority. So with this in mind, please join us for our special self-care and virtual cocoa event!
Words like ‘depression’ and ‘anxiety’ are often misused and mis-understood. Understanding and talking about mental health in general can be a minefield for many of us too. ?Shai will take us through her story in ‘Breaking Down Depression’ - a free 45 minute webinar and discuss her lived experience of mental illness as well as the latest information and tools from the Black Dog Institute. The presentation covers causes, signs and symptoms of anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder, when and where to seek help and practical strategies for helping a friend or family member. Shai will stay onto to chat to the group and answer any burning questions! The event will be introduced and hosted by Kathryn, our State Commissioner.
Register here for this important self-care event. BYO slippers and cocoa!
The Zoom link will be sent separately prior to the event.
