As well as having a fun time, Guiding provides opportunities for Youth Members to:

Girl Guides Queensland offers a free 4-week trial which enables girls and young women to participate in most activities and really experience Guiding before making the decision to join. The annual membership fee is 12 months from the join date. Youth members must identify as female.
The Australian Guide Program (AGP) focuses on leadership and personal development, so girls can do their best. They complete activities and set goals, earning badges, certificates and Awards to recognise these achievements.
Most challenges can be done by girls themselves or with their Adult Leader, Patrol or Unit.
The Girl Guides Australia publication Look Wide can be purchased from Girl Guide Retail Outlets to start planning.
The AGP Process helps girls to plan, implement and evaluate their own activities to help overcome challenges and set goals for themselves.
There are badges and awards to be gained, however earning badges is only a small part of being a Guide Member. The girls and young women will participate in many activities that they will enjoy and learn from. Their reward will be a great sense of achievement. The activities could be outdoor adventures such as canoeing, archery, abseiling, camping, skiing, hiking overnight, cooking damper over a fire or just sitting around a campfire singing, chatting and sharing a joke.
There are other times, though, when the girls prefer indoor activities such as trying a special recipe, having a go at making something, being creative in the visual or dramatic arts, working as a team to plan their next adventure, finding out about other cultures and religions or learning skills through games.
Unit meetings usually take place once a week during the Queensland school term for 2 hours within a local hut or community space.
