Board Member Vacancies

The GGQ Board are pleased to announce an upcoming Board Election to fill two vacancies as current Board Member’s (Robyn Hulbert and Wendy Brown) terms end at the AGM in March 2021. The nominations for these positions opened Tuesday 1 December 2020.

The Board have extended the closing date for submissions to 5pm Friday 12 February 2021 to enable more Members to apply to fill the vacancies.

Members are invited to participate in two ways in the election – sourcing nominations and voting.

The Board Member (referred to as Director) role is an important one within the organisation. The Board is responsible for the management, stewardship and governance of the property and affairs of Guides Queensland for the members. As such Board Directors have a significant responsibility.

It would be highly desirable for Directors to have expertise in at least one area listed below:

  • Income generation
  • Marketing brand promotion and sponsorship
  • Government relations and advocacy
  • Partnership development

If this is a role that you feel YOU or another Adult Member that you know could fulfil, please complete a nomination form. Please note successful Board Directors will take office from 1 April 2021 with a Directorship term of three years.

All nominees will need to:

  • Carefully read the Nominations Information which outlines the criteria that Board Directors are required to meet
  • All nominees must have been a financial Adult Member of GGQ for a minimum of 12 months
  • Have two proposers – who complete a Proposer Form
  • Complete the Nomination Form – that includes details of guiding experience, required personal and Directorship competencies and your personal statement covering your intended contribution as a Director

Nominations must be received by the Chief Executive Officer no later than 5pm Friday 12 February 2021, by post or email.  Candidates must be available to attend an interview (via zoom/in person), if required, on the weekend of 13 and 14 February 2021.

Once the Nominations Committee has processed all nominations, Members will be asked to vote on successful nominees.  The voting ballot with details of each successful nominee will be distributed to all financial Adult Members on Wednesday 17 February 2021.

Votes must be received by mail or electronically, by the Chief Executive Officer by 5pm, Wednesday 10 March 2021. Election results and the successful Board Directors will be announced at the AGM Friday 19 March 2021.

Applications may be retained and considered for any additional casual vacancies which become available up to the 2022 AGM.

Please email the Chair Nominations Committee, Penny Worthington [email protected] to arrange an informal chat about this information.
