State Commissioner

Are you ready for your NEXT CHALLENGE? Do you have a strong understanding and passion for Guiding and what we deliver to our girls?Do you have a desire to assist Leaders to be the best they can be?Could this be YOU……? As Velia’s term as State Commissioner comes to an end on 31 March 2020, Girl Guides Queensland (GGQ) is currently seeking nominations for her successor.The role of State Commissioner is very rewarding. You will be involved across all levels of Guiding including the National Level.  It offers the most rewarding opportunities to participate in the ongoing development of our girls and Leaders.Nominations for this position, which is open to any qualified State Council member, close on 5pm Friday 1 November 2019.  The Board will appoint a Nominations Committee to conduct the selection process. The Board is reviewing the role and this will be discussed with applicants.The successful applicant will be elected by State Council in late 2019/early 2020. International Advisor

Girl Guides Queensland is seeking two applicants for the International Adviser Role.

The role will be broken up into two components:

  1. Screening and interviewing applicants for international events
  2. Circulating World Guiding knowledge to Members and incorporating World Guiding elements into youth programs

The International Adviser provides support, guidance and participation within the international sphere and will predominately work with young adult members.

They will enthusiastically promote international initiatives and events, such as JOTA- JOTI.

Leader in Charge - STEAM Camp (State) Kindilan

Girl Guides Queensland is seeking a LiC for our STEAM camp held on 28 September 2020 to 2 October 2020. LiC will be leading girls aged 7 - 11 years of age. Please contact Julie Black, State Events Manager events@guidesqld.org by Friday 29 November 2019 for all enquires.

2020 WAGGGS Advocacy Champions

We are pleased to share the opportunity for young women between the ages of 18 and 30 years to apply for the 2020 WAGGGS Advocacy Champions network. Advocacy Champions will be selected by WAGGGS for their commitment to gender equality, their involvement in Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting and their ability to lead, challenge and create a ripple effect. Advocacy Champions have exciting opportunities for personal growth and development and will represent WAGGGS at external events, including the 64th Commission on the Status of Women. This is a unique opportunity for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to advocate for the rights of girls and young women and champion gender equality at a local, national and international level.
