She will be starting on Monday 14 October to focus on providing consistent, timely and accurate administration assistance to achieve and maintain an excellent standard of property related services including insurance and grant administration.

We are glad to have Rhonda on board and look forward to working with her.

Lauretta Lekakis - Reception

Lauretta Lekakis (previous Work Cover intern) has also now officially joined the state office team working in the role of receptionist, Tuesday - Fridays. You can contact her on reception@guidesqld.org

State Council Invitation

Time seems to have grown wings this year, I can’t quite believe we are in October – but here we are! All Adult and Trefoil Members are invited as State Council Members to attend the upcoming State Council Meeting.

The purpose of the meeting is to bring us together (or as many as possible) and:

  • Outline proposed changes to our Constitution. The Constitution has been in place for two years and has served us well. We have now identified areas that need some tweaking. The State Council must approve any changes as per our Constitution - Clause 7.4, 7.5. Details on the voting procedure will be advised shortly.
  • Present the Strategic Plan for the next 3 years based on a platform of sustainability and growth
  • Update on Centenary activities for next year
  • Provide an update on the work being done to date

I am acutely aware that the majority of Members cannot attend this meeting. Consequently we have arranged phone in options including a briefing pack for voting procedures for the Constitutional changes. I do hope as many of you as possible can attend.

Date: Friday 9 November

Time: 6pm for a 6:30pm start (access to the building closes at 6.30)

Venue: McCullough Robertson Lawyers (Auditorium)
Address:Level 11, 66 Eagle Street, Brisbane City QLD 4000

Please register your apology or attendance at www.guidesqld.org/statecouncil

I am looking forward to seeing you and excited to share the updates with you.

State Office Renovation

Car Parking and front door access to the State Office in Windsor may be limited or closed due to body corporate performing building upgrades and maintenance (to support the arrival of new tenants on the upper level) from Monday 15 October.

Access will be available at the rear of the building - enter via the stairs at the bottom of the car park - behind the small freight elevator.

The new tenants arrival in January 2019 unfortunately means that GGQ will revert back to access of our GGQ allocation of car parks (8) and visitor parking (2) only. A car park allocation system will be put in place and communicated through District Matters.

Financial System Review

As announced in District Matters a few issues ago. State Office is conducting an internal review of our Financial Systems in particular our audit procedures and processes. We acknowledge and apologise that our processes in the past have resulted in errors and missing paperwork.
We have addressed these concerns with new internal processes which should eliminate these problems. We have also spent much time and effort in validating the information that we have as must as possible. We will be working together with Managers to fill in the gaps in our information where possible.
If you have any feedback or suggestions please email these to accounts@guidesqld.org
