For me
As a Guide Leader, you will be a vital link in
the growth and development of our Leaders of tomorrow. Leaders play an
important role as a mentor for young girls to look up to and learn from.
Many Guides look back on their Leaders as role models who helped shape
their future successes.
An immense sense of personal satisfaction can
be gained by challenging yourself as a Leader while also contributing to
your community and making a difference in the lives of today’s young
women.
While your support and life experience will
help set these young women on the path to achieve their full potential,
Leaders themselves also have an opportunity to further develop their own
skills and qualifications. This includes both formal, accredited training
as well as informal training across a wide variety of areas including
first aid, group facilitation and adventure-based activities.
There are additional roles Leaders can elect
to become involved in including planning for camps and events, taking part
in functions and representing Girl Guides Queensland interstate and
overseas.
Guiding provides Leaders with the opportunity
to acquire skills such as Leadership, teamwork and negotiation, which are
viewed as valuable assets for any employer.
Whatever your passions, there is an opportunity for you to share these
with your Guides, while learning new skills yourself in the process.
