About the
Leaders
Leaders are carefully chosen adult
volunteers who understand and care about the particular needs of girls,
and enjoy sharing their expertise and life experience in helping to shape
the future of young women. As a Leader, you are responsible for actively
encouraging girls to be their best and achieve their full potential.
Leaders come from all walks of life, and
all family and working situations. As a Leader, you will work as part of a
team and have a Guiding Partner to mentor you, answer any questions and
assist with your qualification through the competency based progressive
Australian Leadership program.
Previous experience in Guiding is not
essential to become a Leader, and you will have the support of experienced
Leaders in your local area. Training courses are conducted for all Leaders
to assist in developing the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to
carry out the role. While valuable, the training is not onerous. It is
conducted “on-the-job”, at your own pace, and can be tailored to your
needs and interests.
All Girl Guides Queensland volunteers
require a Blue Card, which is a State Government requirement for people
who work or volunteer with children. When you apply to become a Leader,
Girl Guides Queensland will also assist you with your Blue Card
application.
