About Girl Guides
Queensland
Girl Guides Queensland is part
of the world's largest organisation for girls and women, the World
Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. The association boasts more
than 10 million members in more than 140 countries on every continent.
Girl Guides Queensland aims to provide personal development, leadership
and recreational opportunities for girls aged from five to 18 years.
Guiding is open to girls of all cultures and faiths. The programs are
specially designed to stimulate and challenge young women, helping them
develop confidence, skills and initiative through program activities. Our
programs are based on the seven fundamentals which are Promise and Law,
the Outdoors, Service, World Guiding, Guiding Traditions, Leadership
Development and the Patrol System.
The four main elements of the Australian Guide Program are Physical,
People, Practical, Self. These elements incorporate the challenges and
fellowship of Guiding and widen the horizons for young women through
friendship, hobbies, international contact and development of essential
life skills.
