QYA Workshop Recruitment and Retention of Adult Volunteers - 4 August 2010

ImageThe Queensland Youth Alliance invites members of Girl Guides Queensland to a QYA Workshop on the findings of a Churchill Fellow Research Report addressing the topic “The recruitment and retention of adult volunteers in Girl Guide Organisations”

The research in this report looks at:
• the need to accommodate a new kind of volunteer;
• flexibility in volunteer roles;
• limited time of volunteers; and
• valuation and recognition of volunteers.

The findings and recommendations are relevant to any organisation that recruits volunteers to assist them with their purpose. The evening will be in the format of a formal presentation by Dr Natasha Hendrick, author of the Fellow’s report, followed by a practical workshop to look at implementation strategies.

Chain of Campfires
In June Guides and Leaders around Queensland took part in the Chain of Campfires to celebrate the Centenary. Guides celebrated on beaches, in the bush, on lakes and at camps.

At campfires held simultaneously across Australia hundreds of Guides sang their hearts out to celebrate the Centenary.
